THE PRODUCTION – „King Arthur“ was produced at Theater Basel as a semi-opera by Henry Purcell and John Dryden, in a new verse adaptation by Ewald Palmetshofer, directed by Stephan Kimmig and telling the story of Arthur and Merlin’s wondrous forging of peace, from an age when the world of sorcerers had not yet faded into legend.

THE BRIEF – I was commissioned to adapt a passage from the production’s narrative into a two-page comic for the theater’s magazine. Given complete stylistic freedom, I chose a two-colour approach of stark, uncompromising contrast – placing the drama and the underlying themes of war and violence firmly at the fore.
